On 6 May 2023, the coronation ceremony of Charles III and Queen Camila Parker was held, who became the successor of Queen Elizabeth II (His Mother). He became the 7th king who wore the St. Edward Crown.

This flashy ceremony was attended by more than two thousand people, along with governmental officials and delegates from different countries (French President, Governer-General of Jemica, Prime Minister of Lebanon and New Zealand, Canadian PM, Israil’s President, and PM of Pakistan). Members of the Royal Family were there, except Prince Harry’s wife.

Although the ceremony was extravagant, it seemed that several Brits were disinterested in the Royals. Now the question arises as to why young people are disinterested in such celebrations.

Level of interest among British people in Royal’s celebrations:

According to the poll that was conducted by UK company “YouGov” showed that;

Young people (ages between 18 to 35):

70% are not interested in the Royals.

7% show their interest in the Royals.

23% show that they are quite interested.

Old people over the age of 65:

58% are interested.

42% are not interested.

Reasons:

British Monarchy can be traced backed from the petty Kingdom of Anglo-Saxon (England) in 10th century. English people showed respect and emotional attachment to Monarchs. But now the ratio of public support to monarch is reduced after the death of Queen Elizabeth-II because according to some Britons she was the only monarch for them.

The up and down relation of Prince Harry with royals is one of the big controversies. The royal family faced the cracked when prince Harry along with his wife left the palace on 8 January 2020.

This event led to a reduction in the interest of people.

Due to King Charles's disloyalty to Princess Diana and his disregard for animal welfare, people did not like him personally.

In this democratic era, most of the people did not take an interest in the Monarchy.

One of the main reasons for disliking this lavish coronation ceremony is that people in the UK are facing inflation while this ceremony was held by the taxes of the public although this might be done at the expense of the royals.

According to an estimation the King’s coronation might have cost 125 million dollars.

This situation also creates a lack of interest in these kinds of royal ceremonies when people are suffering from the crisis.

Conclusion:

To conclude all of the above discussion, I want to say that it would be good for Britons if this lavish ceremony was held at the expense of the royal instead of taxes of people that are suffering from intense inflation
