Heavily monsoon rains and melting of glaciers are the causes of flooding. Global heating made the flooding up to 50% worse.

Winter arrival bring a new problem to Flood victim in Pakistan 2022


In Pakistan deforestation is also one of the factors of worst flooding. In 2022, Pakistan received 190% more rain than average 30 years. This is the “deadliest flood” in the history of southern Pakistan since 2009. Almost 1/3 of the country is under flood water. 

The effects of flood had only subsided when the arrival of winter created a new problem for the flood victims. 

2022 flood in Pakistan: 

In May and June, southern Pakistan received back-to-back heat wave, created climate change that bring heavier rain than unusual. In Gilgit Baltistan heat wave also melted a glacier. All these factors brought a record flood in across all Pakistan. 

The Ministery of Climate Change in Pakistan declared that Sindh and Baluchistan received 784% and 500% more rainfall than the August average. 

Punjab: 

In Punjab, Taunsa sharif and many submerge were submerged in flood, 211 people died and 3858 suffered from injury.  

Sindh: 

 Khand Kot, Hyderabad division, Jacobabad, Joohi, Mehar, lake Mancher, Dadu district are the most affected areas in the province of Sindh.736 people had died and 8422 was injured.  

KPK:

In swat district, newly established hotel became the victim of this deadliest flood.308people had died and 600,000 people were displaced in the horrible flooding. 

Baluchistan: 

Karakorum highway, district of Ghazar, Nagar, Daimar, Ghanchi and Astore were badly affected by this disaster. 24 people had died and four people are missing during this flooding. Quetta had been declared a disaster area due of continues rain for 30 hours. 

Loss due to flood: 

Flood in Pakistan have affected 33 million people and killed 1717 people since June 2022. 


Nearly 12865
people have been injured across all the provinces of Pakistan.
 

Government of Pakistan has estimated economic loss US$40 billions during this disaster.

Pakistani people faced many challenges after this disaster. Thousands of people lost their houses. Almost 6 million people had to leave their homes. Now people are forced to live in temporary camps and hundreds of people are not even blessed with these camps. There had been a shortage of food as well as the lack of medicine. there 

After the flood disaster, many people suffered from waterborne diseases like malaria, cholera, dengue and skin infections. 

The Sindh provincial government confirmed 10604 cases of malaria, 17,977 cases of diarrhea and 20,064 cases of skin disease. 

Flood not only affected on human also for animals and plants. Thousands of trees were swept away by flood water due to which there is a significant change in the environment 

Winter become new challenge: 

The arrival of winter has added to the woes of the flood victims. People. Those whose houses were destroyed by the flood have been sheltered in makeshift camps but have once again been left homeless by the onset of winter. People are starting to lose their Lifes who are not able to bear the severity of the cold.

 People are suffering from severe cough and fever because they have no shelter to hide themselves. Even children do not have warm clothes to fully cover themselves. 

Government and international organizations had provided every assistance, but this aid did not reach the original beneficiary.   

Conclusion: 

In the end, I request the people to help the flood victims as much as possible, who are now facing a new problem of winter season. I suggest the people to distribute warm clothes, Blankets, Food items and other items to protect against the cold. I hope we will get rid of these new challenges by our struggles.
