In Pakistan, the general elections are held after the tenure of five year.
In 2018 when PTI form a coalition government with alliance parties, almost 11 parties known as PDM (Pakistan democratic movement) including PML-N, PPP, JUI etc. had denied the general elections of 2018 and were demanded for new and early elections.
After the success of PDM’s vote of no confidence against PTI, they formed a new coalition government in 2021. Then PTI’s leader Imran Khan demanded for early election because it will be the solution according to him.
Analyze In terms of two major perspective
This situation creates political instability across the country. Here we will Analyze that the early elections will be beneficial or not in terms of two major perspectives including political, economic.
Political perspective:
Coalition government is instable and last for short period because it is difficult to fulfill all the need of alliance parties. It is the unfortunate of Pakistan that no Prime Minister completed its tenure. Sometime Martial law was imposed, sometimes the rulers were disqualified sometimes they were killed.
In 2021 after the dismissal of PTI, they called it a regime change by international superpower by seeing a letter to the public. Then PTI started a long march and demanded early elections.
In order to create a stability in the politics of Pakistan early elections seems a better option as it will save from anarchy. But it’s a logical fact that the government tenure should be completed, and elections be conducted on time.
If the demand for early elections is fulfilled at this time, then later if a party does not win the elections, it will demand for again elections as per their will.
Economical perspective:
The destruction of the economy directly relates to the political instability of the government. While the prosperity of a country depends upon the economic situation of that country.
At present Pakistan is facing deficit in Balance of payment due to devaluation of rupees and rise in the value of dollars. The debt burden of Pakistan is also increasing over time while inflation is another problem faced by the public.
In these situation early elections would be sheer folly because holding elections requires a lot of capital(money) while Pakistan is in deep debt.
Conclusion:
After reviewing the situation, it has been concluded that the early elections are not a beneficial solution for the politics of Pakistan. Moreover, the Election Commission of Pakistan said that the early elections are not possible before the general election of 2023 because it required money as well as time.
Now it's up to you to decide whether the early elections will be beneficial or not.
